Basics
Do other people need weBump too?
Yes. Nearby bumps happen between iPhones running weBump with Bump Discovery enabled. Passing someone who does not have the app will not add them to your collection.
How close do I have to be for a bump?
Your phones need to be within Bluetooth range and able to connect. You do not need to touch phones or tap them together. There is no fixed distance: walls, obstacles, and the surrounding radio environment can affect the connection. Both people need weBump with Bluetooth and Bump Discovery enabled.
Is the Plaza a map of people near me?
No. The Plaza is a collection of people in weBump, not a map. A bubble's position does not show that person's real-world location or distance from you. Someone appearing in your Plaza does not mean they are nearby right now.
Is weBump free?
Yes. weBump is free to download and use. Unless you have a Supporter Badge, the app shows rewarded ads. See how ads use your data.
Using it
Why am I not getting bumps?
Make sure Bluetooth is on, weBump has Bluetooth permission, and Bump Discovery is enabled. Open the app again if you have swiped it away. The other person also needs weBump and discovery enabled; a bump depends on the phones being able to connect over Bluetooth.
Do I need to keep the app on screen?
No. weBump can discover nearby phones in the background. Keep Bluetooth and Bump Discovery on, avoid swiping the app away, and open it occasionally to refresh your bump ID and sync your profile. If you force close it, iOS can stop discovery until you open it again.
How much battery does weBump use?
weBump uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which is designed for low-power communication, and the app has been optimized to reduce battery use. Actual battery use varies, so there is no single percentage to promise. You can check weBump's usage in your iPhone's Settings → Battery.
What are Connected Games?
Connected Games lets games you approve recognize people you bump as visitors or rivals. You can manage visitor sharing and individual games in the app. Try the racing demo to see it in action.
Privacy
Does weBump track my location?
Nearby bumps use Bluetooth, not GPS or a live location map. The optional local activity feature can use your location to find a broad area and stores a coarse area bucket rather than precise coordinates. See how safety works.
What can someone see when they bump me?
They see the card details you allow non-friends to see. You can control sharing for your bio, music, social handles, general area, and school, and preview their view in the app. Your age range stays private, and school sharing with non-friends is disabled for users under 18.
Why might a bump notification arrive later?
People can choose a notification delay, from a minute to a full day, or turn notifications about their bumps off. A delayed notification helps avoid revealing the exact moment you crossed paths.
Can I stop sharing or block someone?
Yes. Turn Bump Discovery off to stop nearby discovery. Blocking someone removes them from your bumps, ends friendship connections and pending requests, and prevents future profile lookups in either direction. You can also report a profile from the app. Read about the safety controls.
